KITUI, Kenya, Apr 24 – The government fully supports the Kitui textile factory, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has said.

Matiangi assured Kitui Governor Charity that the National Government will support and give business to her County.

Matiangi spoke this when he inspected the newly established KICOTEC factory in Syongila Market.

He noted that there is no reason the country should not support local industries and instead spend public resources to support other economies.

“There is no point of importing things we can make here,” said Matiangi.

Accompanied by his Health colleague, Sicily Kariuki and Kitui Governor Ngilu, Matiangi expressed satisfaction with what he saw in the textile factory saying it is in line with the government’s agenda.

The interior CS commended Ngilu for creating employment to over 300 youths employed in the textile factory.

“My first duty is to confirm and announce that we will work with Governor Ngilu and we will support his factory”, said Matiangi.

He also noted that the Kenyan government is serious in supporting manufacturing.

“We are not doing so theoretically, but we are supporting manufacturing in the county practically,” added Matiangi.

The CS visited the factory three weeks after Ngilu made a presentation to President Uhuru Kenyatta at Masii during the launch of Huduma Namba registration.
