To say I love dogs, is an understatement because I absolutely LOVE DOGS more than words could explain or express. For those who love these pets like i do, will agree with me that they are truly the best animal companion anyone could ever think of- loyal and lovable and all things gorgeous. A dog will love you more than you love yourself.
For this reason, I was super excited to attend the annual 52nd open championship dog show, organized by the Ladies Kennel Association of Kenya at the East Africa Kennel Club (EAKC) showground. It was a two-day dog affair with different types of breeds of dogs on show from golden retrievers, Dobermans, Bernese mountain dogs, Labradors, cocker spaniels, German shepherds, Alaskan malamute and so much more. It was a beautiful weekend of seeing dogs put their best paws forward. Mrs Ann Ingram, a past president of the Irish Boxer dog club of Ireland, was the Judge of the show.
For a long time, our society has often viewed them largely as protectors/ guards at home, rather than a man’s best friend. Infact many get surprised at the tender, loving and care given to dogs by those, like me, who absolutely adore them. The East Africa Kennel Club (EAKC) organizes these shows every year to not only appreciate these beautiful pets, but to also demystify the notion that dogs are only for protection purposes. Dogs are so much more than this.
It is important to note that EAKC keeps a record of breeders and kennels who register their dogs & breeding appropriately. These breeders have been reviewed by their members and they trust them to provide what they promise. They have all the records and one can trace a dog’s lineage as far as possible.
A dog will fill your life and that of your family with love, and excitement and ask for nothing in return. The truly sincere excitement of your dog the moment you enter the house is sincere and irreplaceable. No matter what type of day you had, the minute you get home and your dog sees you and runs towards you, you totally forget the hurdles you may have faced during the day. Dogs are wonderful.
