NAIROBI, Kenya, May 23 – Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been taken to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) headquarters in Nairobi to be grilled over alleged graft-related issues.
EACC detectives raided his houses in Garden City and Runda at dawn on Thursday and have been searching them since then.
Waititu is expected to record a statement over alleged corruption in his administration’s Kaa Sober program which is aimed at rehabilitating alcoholics.
The Kiambu County Assembly has already passed a supplementary budget allocating over Sh 700 million to the initiative.
Fifteen county officials are said to be on the EACC radar over what is believed to be a cover-up to conceal irregular expenses under the Kaa Sober program.
