NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 15 – Naftali Kinuthia, the man who allegedly killed a Moi University medicine student Ivy Wangechi, was Monday produced before an Eldoret court.
He was presented before Senior Resident Magistrate, Nicodemus Moseti since the High Court is on recess.
The prosecution pleaded to hold him for 14 days pending investigation and compilation of his file.
The magistrate ordered that Kinuthia be held at Naiberi Police Station until April 20 when he will take plea.
He also ordered that he be taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
Wangechi was murdered at MTRH where she was on internship on Tuesday last week.
She was a sixth-year medicine student at Moi University.
Naftali allegedly hacked her with an axe before slitting her throat in broad daylight in full view of the public.
He was later apprehended and mobbed before police arrived and rescued him from the irate crowd.
