NYERI, Kenya April 15 – Residents of Nyaribo village in Nyeri town constituency are yet to recover from shock after one of their own was murdered in cold in the wee hours of Monday morning.
The incident occurred after a 24-year-old woman was stabbed on the neck, leading to her death after profuse bleeding.
Mary Wangui was allegedly killed by her lover who had separated with her.
Wangui, a mother of two was living in a rental house at Nyaribo shopping centre alongside a lady friend Catherine Karimi after leaving her matrimonial home in Ihururu, Tetu subcounty.
Karimi said that the estranged lover had traced her whereabouts and found her just a day before killing her.
She said that at the time when the incident took place, she had walked outside the house briefly, only for the suspected assailant to get in and commit the act.
“It is as if this man was waiting outside ready to strike any time opportunity came his way and that’s he took advantage of the few minutes I walked outside the house to kill,” she said.
The suspect remains at large and a manhunt has been launched.
