KAMPALA, Uganda, Sep 15 – Dismas Indiza ended his 2019 Uganda Open Golf Championship campaign with a 3-under par 285 score to finish fourth at the tournament and emerge as the top Kenyan at the tourney.

Having posted a record-breaking round of 63 on day three of the tournament, he had a day of mixed fortunes on the final round to post a score of 1-over par 73.

On the first nine, he got off to a flyer; sinking consecutive birdies at the par-4, first and the par-5, second before holing consecutive bogeys at the par-3, seventh and the par-5 eighth to card a total of 36 through the first nine.

On the back nine, he got off to a birdie at the par-4, 10th before holing a triple bogey at the par-3, 11th and a bogey at the par-4, 12th. He recovered with a birdie at the par-5, 13th and the par-4, 15th to card a total of 37.

For his efforts, the 2018 Uganda Open Champion took home Sh322,000 and collected 100 Road to 2020 Magical Kenya Points that saw him jump up to position four on the ranking with a total of 105 points.

Thika Golf Club’s Simon Ngige finished the tournament as the second-highest ranked Kenyan at the event having played a commendable final round of 71 to take his total for the tournament to level par 288 and finish in sixth place.

-Third in the ranking 

For his efforts, Ngige took home Sh214,000.  His performance at the tournament saw him amass 95 Road to 2020 Magical Kenya Points to leave him third in the ranking with a total of 122.6 points.

Meanwhile, Windsor’s Rizwan Charania was Kenya’s third-best golfer at the tournament having played a final round of 71 to take his total for the tournament to 1-over par 289; seeing him finish tied in seventh place.

He earned Sh162,000 for his finish. His decent outing at the event granted him 90 Road to 2020 Magical Kenya Points to leave him second in the ranking with a total of 129 points.

Muthaiga Golf Club’s, Greg Snow jumped 12 places on the final day of the tournament after playing an impressive round of 66 to take his total for the tournament to 2-over par 290.

He impressed by only dropping a single shot through the round at the par-4, first but then played a flawlessly, recording seven birdies to post the lowest score of the round.

His efforts were enough to see him end his challenge at the event tied in 10th. He, however, remains top of the Road to 2020 Magical Kenya ranking with a total of 135 points.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s Madalitso played a round of 72 to take his total for the tournament to 9-under par 279; which saw him crowned 2019 champion of the Uganda Open.

Zimbabwean, Tongoona Charamba, finished second with a 5-under par 283 overall score while Portuguese Stephen Ferreira finished third with a 4-under par 284 score.

Action in the Safari Tour Golf Series resumes from the 12th to the 16th of October 2019 at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club. The series is sponsored by both Magical Kenya and Absa.
